Jv girls huddled up on the bench during first game of the season.

The temperature on Monday night’s game was below 36 degrees and parents and supporters were still out there in the bleachers cheering on these girls as loud as they could.

It was the first Girl’s Junior Varsity game and it took place here at Markham Field.

A great way to start off the season was this win for our JV girls soccer team. Mill Creek played against the brookwood jv soccer team last monday. The score was 4-0.

Some of the players had opinions about the atmosphere of that game and emotion surrounding their performance…

“Our first game was a bit hectic. I was trying my hardest, which I think meant a lot to the coaches. But I want to work on getting wider, tucking in when at a disadvantage and finding through balls,” Julia Ulteanu, 10, said after Monday night’s game.

Olivia Orman, 10, “I start most games. I play right winger. My first game went well, I played a lot of minutes and I think I could improve on my communication skills.

Lauren Tisdale, 10, made one goal in the first 10 minutes at the start of the game. Out of all four points made, Maci Halama made both in the first halves of the game. Ellie Hurd, 10, made the last goal in the second half. A total of three points in the first half and one in the last.

Hurd made the second to last point of the game. She commented on the subject, “I think that Maci Halama made the last goal of the night and I made the second to last goal, but I was so excited after my goal because header goals are fairly rare. I think that the fact that we won our first game with multiple goals kinda brought us together as a team and we are all excited to see what the rest of the season is going to look like.”
