Atlanta Braves Win the World Series For the First Time in 26 Years

First Baseman Freddie Freeman went 2-4 batting with 2 RBIs and he caught the final out of the World Series.

On Nov. 2, the Atlanta Braves played against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. This was game six of the World Series the Braves had a 3-2 lead in the series, if they won game six then the Braves would win the World Series.

According to the sports site ESPN the game was tied 0-0 until right fielder Jorge Soler hit a three-run home run with second baseman Ozzie Albies and left fielder Eddie Rosario scored on the play along with Soler. Soler’s left field home run flew a total distance of 446 feet.Then after that in the fifth inning the game was still 3-0 and when the Braves went back up to bat, shortstop Dansby Swanson hit a 411 foot home run out into left field and he brought in Ozzie Albies to score, making the score 5-0 in the fifth inning. Also in the fifth inning first baseman Freddie Freeman made a hit out into left center field and the play brought in Jorge Soler to score, now making the score 6-0.

According to ESPN, starting pitcher for the Braves Max Fried had pitched for six innings, allowed four hits, and six strikeouts. Then in the seventh inning, first baseman Freddie Freeman had hit a homerun 416 feet out into center field making the score 7-0 with two innings to play. Then pitcher Will Smith came in for the Braves in the ninth inning, with first baseman Freddie Freeman catching the final out of the game. The Atlanta Braves won the World Series for the first time in 26 years.
