The Mill Creek Healthcare Community Service Club is a new student-led club here at Mill Creek. The club’s leaders, Taylor Jones, 11, and Lydia Schwab, 11, created the club to impact the community. Jones and Schwab are both in HOSA, which Schwab describes as a healthcare club that improves skills for future jobs in the medical field.
“To help the community in different health care facilities by just providing them comfort and giving them support,” said Jones. The goal of the MCHS Healthcare Community Service Club is to support different healthcare facilities by sending handmade cards every month.

“We just made a lot of cards that were given to the Capstone Hospice, and we have quite a few tissue boxes that were donated,” said Schwab.

The club recently just hosted a tissue drive, and everything was donated to local homeless shelters. On Oct. 27, Schwab and Jones delivered 106 tissue boxes to the Home of Hope Children’s Shelter.

“Within our club, I feel like one of our goals is just to open up some service right back to the members, give them opportunities for service and then also help them learn about different healthcare facilities,” said Jones.
