Nate Augustine ,12, has been doing theatre since seventh grade and is opening Mill Creek’s Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s production of “Cinderella” as Week one Prince Charming.

Augustine describes being the prince as exciting and full of responsibility. He continues, “there’s some pressure, but I’m not particularly nervous.”

When asked how he felt about opening the show, Augustine said “it was really exciting to do a show like this and have a lead role my senior year!”

In addition to being the Prince, Augustine is the president of the Mill Creek Theatre Troupe. The troupe is part of the International Thespian Society which is all around G.A. Augustine says he enjoys being the president but “it wouldn’t be fun without my other officers.” He elaborates, saying, “there’s seven of us. We work as a team to make sure things run smoothly and plan events.”

Augustine was a freshman when COVID hit. He says, “It was stressful for me as far as theatre.” He recalls when COVID first hit, “my freshman year we did the musical “The Addams Family”. We were supposed to do it six times, but we only got to do it once because the night of the first show was when they canceled school. That was the last time that I was at school that year.”

For his last semester of high school, Augustine says his goals are, “I just want to finish with good grades and have a good time for this high school then leave.”

Augustine is planning to go to Pace University in New York City, N.Y. for writing. One goal he has for his time there is “A big project of writing. Maybe it’ll be a full length play.”

Augustine gives one piece of advice to the incoming freshmen. “You don’t have anything to prove, do what is going to make you successful and trust your instincts.” He then gives advice to the incoming seniors. “Just be positive and wake up with a positive outlook because your high school is going to be over soon. Regardless of where you are, wherever you are with your grades or extracurricular or your relationships, just try to think positive because sometimes that’s the best you can do.”
