Cross Country Boys Take State

Mill Creek Boys Cross Country finish the season undefeated.

The boys Cross Country completed this season undefeated and came home as State Champions, Robert Christie, Head Coach for the Boys, states,”This year we knew we had the potential to be one of the best teams in the state, but we just didn’t know how good,” Christie continued. “It became apparent the first few weeks of the season that we would have a shot at the State Title. We had that goal, but we really just focused on continuing to improve and focus on what we could control.”

Christie states,”I was not nervous about the boy’s abilities. In fact, that was the least nervous I’ve been at the State Meet probably in my career. I was more hoping that it was going to work out for the boys but I was very confident in their ability and with each victory in the season, especially the ones that were difficult. I felt like they were prepared and ready.”

Many of this year’s Varsity Boys are graduating,”It’s so great for them to go out on top. I’m very proud of them; thankful for what they were able to accomplish their senior year, and I think they’ve set a good example for the boys that comeback because we are losing a lot of runners, but we have a really good JV team. We have boys who are ready to step up and hopefully continue going in the right direction,” Christie continued. “I’ll emphasize to them that it’s their team and each team has their own goals. But it’s whatever their potential is and not what this year’s state championship team did.”
