After winning 60-51 Buford, the Lady Hawks headed to Buford Arena to play against the Buford Wolves on their home court. Despite the strict defense from the Wolves, the Hawks were still able to manage to have the lead of Hawks 15-9 Wolves after the first quarter, eventually losing with Hawks 58-70 Wolves. After the win last month, Monday, Dec. 16, fully prepared to face the current top 1 region team, the Varsity Basketball Girls headed to the game tonight ready to fight against the current best team of the season.
In the first quarter, the Hawks managed the lead with 2 successful free-throws and 3 rebounds from Bella Ragone (5), and 5 points contribution from Luckiey Williams (30). “It is a great and strong attack from the Ladies [Hawks],” Ann Smith, an audience member, said.
Moving on to the second quarter, the Hawks kept up and tried to make it through the strict defense of the Wolves, distributing 4 points to the scoreboard. However, the Wolves are really good at capturing a good chance, 8 rebounds, and 1 free-throw, making them leading with 5 extra points, Hawks 19-25 Wolves.
One chased by another, both teams try to maintain their points and keep up with the others, creating a faster tempo for the game. With 25 two-pointers and 4 three-pointers for both teams, they are both distributing the best of them to earn more points. Thus, fouls are being maximized during the last game. With the free-throw rate of 07/17, the Hawks are not having their best game tonight. Other than that, the Wolves have better stats on free throws, with a rate of 16/18, ending the game with Mill Creek 58-70. “They [the Lady Wolves] are better than the last game,” said Johnes Tiger, an audience member, “they have improved a lot with strategy and are better prepared for the game [against the Hawks].”
