The show had two acts, each one had 15 performances. The five periods that performed had been practicing for the show for about 2 and ½ months before. They started preparing for the show by learning all of the choreography, then “cleaning” them and fixing a few things to make them ready to go on stage.
The dancers were nervous, but through the support of one another and a lot of practice, they calmed down. Chloe Cunningham, a sophomore on the Mill Creek JV dance team said, “It is kind of scary at first to go on stage with all of the lights and people watching you, but after practicing being on it, you get used to it.”
The dancers performed for three days in a row. Although Thursday was pretty calm and quiet, the audiences on Friday and Saturday were much more energetic, with lots of yelling and cheering. “We could definitely tell that there was a difference in the audiences for each show; Thursday was pretty calm and quiet, while Friday and Saturday had way more yelling and cheering,” said Cunningham.
The support from the audience, especially from friends and family, made it clear that the dancers were having a lot of fun on stage.
Also not only family and friends were supporting them, but all the dancers off stage were also cheering for each other during the performance. “My favorite part is being off stage and watching the dance before me, as all the excitement and nerves start hitting really hard,” said Elise Weaver, a Sophomore in the MC Dance program.
The dancers looked forward to this week all year, because they got to show off their amazing work and perform a really remarkable show.
At the end of it they were all celebrating their hard work on stage by dancing and jumping. The three shows were a complete success and the dancers were relieved that they all turned out so well.
