Softball is a sport unlike any other. The combination of skill and competitiveness makes it irresistible. Ellie Kava, a varsity outfielder for the Mill Creek softball team, plays hard to be the best she can be and embodies the essence of softball.
Ellie Kava has displayed intense determination and a strong work ethic throughout her journey to varsity softball. During her freshman year, there were times when Kava just wanted to “go home and take a nap” after a long day of school. But Ellie never gave in to that feeling. She knows the importance of her commitment to the team and always shows up to get the job done. After her practices, one feeling always remains: “satisfaction, after a long practice.”
Ellie Kava is constantly striving to be her best. As this is her first year on varsity, her goals are evolving. One goal she is determined to achieve is to keep her team’s morale high. In an interview, she said, “Keeping the team positive is a very important goal I want to achieve.” This reflects her positive attitude and her love for her teammates.
“When my teammates are feeling down, we always try to cheer them up,” Ellie says. She has a close relationship with her team and coaches, constantly working to grow with her teammates and go on this journey with them. She also does her best to “balance her school life and her sports life.” While being on varsity, she appreciates how helpful her coaches have been in supporting her.
Ellie Kava’s legacy at Mill Creek High School is still unfolding, but her future looks bright. With two more years of high school ahead, Ellie is poised to continue growing on her journey. We can almost guarantee that she will be a major talent on the softball field and an inspiration to future players.
