This year Mill Creek hosted the Jerry Arnold varsity track meet. Many high schools across Georgia including Alpharetta, Brookwood, Cedar Grove, Centennial, Chamblee, Charles Drew, Collins Hill, Dacula, Decatur, Dunwoody, Eagle’s Landing, Forsyth Central, Kennesaw Mountain,  Lakeside DeKalb, Lakeside Evans, Langston Hughes, Lithonia, Marietta, Midtown, Miller Grove, Milton, Morrow, Mundy’s Mill, Norcross, North Gwinnett, North Hall, North Springs, Oconee County, Parkview, Peachtree Ridge, Pebblebrook, Riverwood International, South Gwinnett, St Pius X Catholic, Starr’s Mill and Wheeler High School participated.

The entry fees are $100 per gender or $200 per school. Payment can be mailed to Mill Creek High School, Will Shelton before the meet date. Make checks payable to Mill Creek Track and Field Booster Club. You may also bring your payment to the Coach’s meeting on Saturday morning. Coaches meeting at 8:30 a.m. on the field in front of the timing tent. One-for-one substitutions only.

Students from all grade levels had different perspectives on the number of teams that showed up. This was a varsity track meet only, meaning underclassmen runners were helping out with the events. Cristina Alvarez, 10, goes on to mention, “In my opinion, I liked it because multiple schools there made it feel like a better competition.”

Amir Abd-Rahman, 9, commented,” It felt good cause I know people from Grayson High School, Central Gwinnett High School, and Dacula High School you know just talk to them and it was a chill lot of people from Mill Creek was there talk to them help out with the track meet it was fun.”

The field event schedule is presented below.

10:00 a.m. Boys long jump, girls long jump- triple jump following immediately after 

10:00 a.m. Boys discus, girls discus (boy minimum110’, girls minimum 80’) 

10:00 a.m. Boys Pole vault, girls pole vault  

10:00 a.m. Boys high jump

12:30 p.m. Boys shot put, girls shot put (Boys Minimum 40′, Girls Minimum 30′)

12:30 p.m. Girls high jump 

The following is the estimated running event schedule for the day. Running events will not go more than 30 minutes ahead of schedule.

9:00 a.m.- Unlimited 3200m for anyone under 12:00/14:00 (All except fastest heat)

10:00 a.m.- Unlimited JV 200 (non-scoring)

11:00 p.m.- 4 x 800m Relay Girls

11:15 p.m.- 4 x 800m Relay Boys

11:30 p.m.- 100m Hurdle Girls

11:45 p.m.- 110m Hurdle Boys

12:00 p.m.- 100m Dash Girls

12:20 p.m.- 100m Dash Boys

12:40 p.m.- 4 x 200m Relay Girls

12:50 p.m.- 4 x 200m Relay Boys

1:00 p.m.- 1600m Girls

1:25 p.m.- 1600m Boys

1:45 p.m.- 4 x 100m Relay Girls

1:55 p.m.- 4 x 100m Relay Boys 

2:05 p.m.- 400m Dash Girls
