John McIntyre, 12, plays Varsity basketball at Mill Creek High School. McIntyre has played basketball for ten years, and has played for Mill Creek for four years now. McIntyre stated, “My cousin and grandfather inspire me to play basketball every day.”
With this year’s season starting, McIntyre has goals for himself as a player and for his team, he says, “Our main goal this year as a team is to win the region, and a goal I have for myself this year is to be able to go to college on a scholarship.”
Being on the team for years has given McIntyre examples of leadership, “Last year’s seniors Nate Eroh and Jonathan Taylor really taught me how to be a team leader, and set an example for how I wanted to play my senior year.”
Becoming a senior this year on the basketball team, McIntyre realized how much being on the team in high school has impacted him, McIntyre states, “Being involved in basketball and on a connected team like this has impacted me in becoming more of a leader”
