Mill Creek presented the community football kickoff Aug 5. The admission was free to everyone.

Gates opened at 5:30 and welcomed parents, children, and leaders of our community. People gathered in the stands to watch the players go head to head against each other. The players came out at 6:05, followed by MC cheerleaders leading the hawks onto the field.  The scrimmage consisted of a couple racks of varsity switched to JV facing off each other. A couple special teams run through. All in all,, the game was mostly a practice for the boys with their friends and family there to watch and cheer on our Hawks.

Jaiden Patterson, 12, said, “The atmosphere on the field was competitive, we were working hard and the energy was exciting.”

Emmanuel Paris, 10, described, “The environment on Friday was loud and energetic. Lots of love, honestly just the community getting ready for the football season to start. And the kick off was just a reflection of what games are like here at Mill Creek.”

The kick-off is the set-off of the season. Students describe the energy and the prep that goes into Mill Creek Football season.

Jasmine Rodriguez, 10, “My it’s something everyone is hyped for and especially the themes. It’s a big thing for the varsity team as well because we’re all supporting them.”

After the scrimmage the band fled the fields to perform many songs including, “Fight Song”, “So Fresh, So Clean,” and some others. Following that performance was the cheerleader chant.

The players came back to the fields  to play an interactive game with the youth teams. The Hawks play Grayson High School next thursday..
