Spotlight: Shaqir Riggins

Shaqir Riggins, 11, is a student and an athlete at Mill Creek. He is on the football team, and says that playing is his passion, he explained, “Growing up I’ve played many different sports, football, track, and soccer, and playing them is my passion, I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t play.”

Riggins feels very strongly about being able to play. He explained, “Football and track are my escapes, my outlets for self-expression and pushing my limits.” He considers football as his motivation and hopes to have a career in it after high school. Riggins says, “Track, on the other hand, allows me to challenge myself individually,” his is love for both football and track, “brings me joy, teaches me discipline, and reminds me of the power of perseverance,” he stated.

Outside of sports, Riggins loves to spend quality time around his friends, teammates, family and doing fun things. He loves music and playing all sorts of games. He also enjoys lending people a helping hand and helping those in need. He says, “I always try to make sure my close ones and those around me are safe and that if they are ever in need that they know I am here.”
