Carissa Hulsey , 9 , has been playing piano for seven years. At the Chorus Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE), Hulsey had the opportunity to accompany the fifth period intermediate chorus class.

“Mr. Potts knew that I’ve played piano for about seven years and I played for him one time. This was the only non-acapella song.” Hulsey explained when asked how she came to play at LGPE.

When asked how she thought she did, Hulsey said “I think I did really good. At one point, there was an error made so I had to follow along but I think I did fairly well with that.”

Hulsey said that she’s stayed in piano because she enjoys it and it’s fun to do in her free time. She continues to describe how it has affected her in her life, “I would say it helped me a lot with chorus and the singing, especially sight reading. It just comes a lot easier to me. I have this experience with piano and music.”

Hulsey says to everyone that is interested in piano that “It takes time and dedication but in the end, if you really enjoy it, it’s worth it.”
