Super Six Spotlight: Ethan Nordman

Magic Moment

Ethan Nordman nears the finish line at the Gwinnett County Cross Country Championships.

Ethan Nordman has been on the Varsity Cross Country team since his Freshman year, an impressive feat for any runner coming into a consistently well performing program. However, his experience ran deep before joining the team, as he has been actively competing in triathlons since the age of six, including the 2019 Sarasota-Bradenton CAMTRI Triathlon Junior American Cup.

Nordman’s impact on the Varsity team was felt immediately, and he had a breakout Junior year. Attributed to Nordman’s realigned focus to running, after giving up triathlons his Sophomore year. He went from running 25-35 miles a week to 40-50 miles a week, training that paid off in November of last year, when he set the school record with a time of 15 minutes, 22 seconds at the Running Lane Championships.

Heading into this season, Nordman was named one of Gwinnett’s Super Six along with fellow teammate, Jake Peters. He also extended his leadership role from on the course to off the course, as he was named a team captain for this year. “I believe his focus and drive will help him to reach new heights this season, as he aims to achieve high team and individual goals,” Coach Andy Christie told Gwinnett Daily Post.

One of the team’s goals this year was to win the Gwinnett County Championships, which they achieved over this past weekend. Nordman led the team placing third overall with a time of 16 minutes, 6 seconds.
