Student Leadership Profile: Cory Shin

Cory Shin, 12, is a student with a great deal of responsibility, as he is the president of three well known clubs here at Mill Creek. As well as being a drum major, Shin is the president of Beta Club, chapter president and state officer of DECA, and chapter and national president of the National Green Schools Society/ Environmental Club. In additon to his club responsibilities, Shin also serves at the Hamilton Mill food pantry every Saturday.

“I love doing a lot of service work and helping others. From a young age I was really exposed to learning about the environment and service” Shin said.

In the future, Shin would like to pursue a career as a Corporate Responsibily Officer at a Fortune 500 company.

“I’m a big environmentalist, and that starts with businesses and intersectional environmentalism. My generation is going to be living with the consequences of what happens with the environment,” Shin says, “When I joined these organizations in tenth grade, I had so many opportunities. It has exposed me to a lot of issues and helped me to develop my skills”

Shin would like to continue to pursue his interests in business and the environment into college and beyond.

“I am going to continue to serve, especially relating to business and serving others”
