Midnight Madness is the kickoff of the basketball season.

Kayla Jackson, 11, said that Midnight Madness “consisted of a 3 point contest, skill contest, dunk contest, and a scrimmage.”

Right after the football game on October 25, students, teachers, and parents went inside the gym to see the basketball team.

Jackson, a member of the JV and varsity basketball teams, felt that the event was a success.

“I felt as the midnight madness went very well, the energy was great and the intensity was high. This being the opener for the season I am very excited for this season and to get a feel of what it’s like to play on varsity. I am also ready to build a bond with my new teammates,” Jackson said.

The basketball season officially starts on November 12, against West Forsyth.

David Lewis II, 12, a member of the boys’ varsity team, said, “I am more than ready for the first game. I’ve been training and practicing the whole summer.”

Over the summer, the girls’ varsity team worked on getting back in shape and working as a team.

Sydnie Smith, 12, said, “ As a team, I feel as we prepared well over the summer with doing a lot of running, ball handling, and team bonding.”
