On April 15, 2019, Notre Dame Cathedral in France, caught fire. French officials aren’t sure what caused the fire, but Paris fire official said, ” at about 9:30 p.m. local time that the next 90 minutes would be “crucial” to saving at least some of the building” (NBC News).

The fire caused the roof to collapse, destroying the spire on the historic cathedral.

“Flames could be seen near scaffolding — high at the top of the famous church where $6.8 million in renovations were being done — and billowing smoke was seen from miles away in the French capital” (NBC News).

President Trump urged French officals to do anything they could to stop the flames. He said, “It’s one of the great treasures of the world, the greatest artists in the world. It’s greater than almost any museum in the world and its burning very badly, looks like its burning to the ground.”

While there are no reports of deaths, there were many onlookers with tears in their eyes.
