Longtime host for the popular show ‘Jeopardy!‘, Alex Trebeck, has been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, and had announced it on March 6. Trebeck stated in a video, “And with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.” According to the American Cancer Society, 7 percent of cancer deaths are from pancreatic cancer and according to the National Cancer Institute, only 8.5 percent of patients have survived 5 years after diagnosis from 2008 and 2014. As patients get older, the risk of getting the cancer grows and Trebeck is already 78.

Trebeck has hosted 8,000 episodes of ‘Jeopardy!‘ and has been hosting the show since 1984. Last year, Trebeck said he would retire in 2020, but he ended up extending the contract so he would end up retiring in 2022.”Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years! So help me. Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done,” he jokingly said.
