With all the rain that Georgia has been receiving this winter, Lake Lanier is feeling the effects. Lanier is close to five feet above its regular level: 1,071 feet. Some docks that lead out towards the water have even been engulfed with all the water that they are now, in fact, underwater. However, the Army Corps of Engineers website predicts that since the forecast shows that the area will be receiving four days of complete sunshine and no rain, the water level will drop 1.3 feet.

The chief meteorologist, David Chandley, at FOX 5 Atlanta states, “So, areas like Lake Lanier, that are well above full pool, will continue to be that way until we get a string of drier air in here.” The Lake Lanier operation team can not repair anything right now because they must wait until conditions are better.
