The newest hurricane, Hurricane Michael has been estimated to follow a path that leads directly through the greater Atlanta area. Here is a list of things you might need and actions you should take to stay safe.

What to get:

  • A lot of full water bottles
  • A full tank of gas
  •  A fire extinguisher
  •  Some “to-go” packs with things like non-perishables and first aid supplies
  • Flashlights, lanterns, matches, sleeping bags, blankets, chargers, medication, and eating utensils
  • Some extra toilet paper, soap, and other bathroom supplies you might need

What to do:

  • Bring in any outside furniture such as lawn chairs or umbrellas
  • Locate the nearest emergency shelters and the fastest route there
  • When the storm arrives be sure to stay out of any floodwaters
  • Be cautious of fallen power lines, trees, and poles
  • Don’t drink the tap water until authorities tell you its okay

Finally if you evacuated wait until the authorities tell you it is safe in your area to return home.
