An example of what the alerts will look like.

Starting on Wednesday, October 3 the President will be able to send out nation wide emergency alerts. This was created by President Trump in association with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) system to warn the public of national emergencies.

The first message you will receive will consist of two parts. The first part will be a header that says, “Presidential Alert,” this will be the header for all of the messages. The second part will be the actual message that will say, “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

In a press conference this week the FEMA said that the system has actually been in place since April of 2012, but they waited until now to work out all of the kinks.
